Step-by-step strategy 1971 Project Helios will take the player to an alternate universe where the world is in a state of post-climatic disaster. The planet is on the eve of a new ice age and an angry nature in the guise of severe frosts is becoming a global threat. The game is a TBS with a mix of historical military tactics and hand-to-hand combat. The realities of a gloomy winter are harsh: an eternal shortage of weapons, ammunition, vehicles, constant micro-conflicts, and random combat clashes continue endlessly, while a monstrous frost devours everything in its path. The story tells about 8 unique characters who temporarily united to save Professor Margaret Blythe, whose ideas are the only chance to save mankind from the ferocious nature. To do this, the group must go through a dangerous path through 9 atmospheric locations in order to penetrate the lands of the anti-technological cult and free a scientist who will return the Sun. All 8 heroes have their own skill trees, as well as personal character. In addition, each fighter has a personal emotional state, which is directly influenced by the player, making certain plot decisions. Also, depending on the player's choice of a certain strategy, there will be a specific ending of the game.
The combat mechanics of 1971 Project Heliosis are reminiscent of the gameplay of the XCOM series - turn-based battles followed by free exploration of the world, side quests and searches for resources. However, the main difference of the project from other TBS is the simplified tactical component. The heroes will have to fight with 3 unique factions, each of which contains different fighters, advantages and disadvantages. Despite the slightly primitive combat system, the project gives an amazing atmosphere and an epic adventure in the depths of cold horror.
