198X allows players to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the USA of the 80s. The main character is a nameless boy who suffers from loneliness and school problems. He finds salvation in slot machines, where you can be anyone. In total, the player has access to 5 classic arcades. It is by playing these arcades that the boy tries to escape from the harsh reality, because here he can be a merciless ninja, a skilled racer or a brave commander of a spaceship. Arcades are given special importance, emphasizing that games can be not only entertainment, but also help a person. List of arcades available in 198X:

• Beating Heart (Streets of Rage) - an action movie where the player needs to fight street gangsters, while simultaneously discovering the plot. You can only move in 4 directions. Available use of weapons.
• Out of the Void (Gradius) – a space shooter in which the player fights enemy forces on a spaceship. The level ends with a boss fight.
• The Runaway (Outrun) – a race in which the player controls a Ferrari and competes with opponents on various tracks.
• Shadowplay (Ninja Gaiden) – an action game in which the player controls a ninja. The character is armed with a katana and other weapons of Japanese assassins.
• Kill Screen – a first-person role-playing game in which the player’s task is to wander through a digital labyrinth and neutralize enemies. There are 4 options available for attack, only one of them is correct.
