Avernum 2: Crystal Souls

Avernum 2: Crystal Souls continues the events of the previous part of the trilogy. The protagonist has killed the cruel ruler of the surface. However, the death of the lord did not end the war. For revenge, the cast of the Empire went underground and staged a great purge, destroying the population of the caves. The carnage must be stopped and the invaders must be repelled.

A squad of 4 characters takes over under the command of the player. There are several races: humans, nephils (similar to cats) and lizards. There are 10 types of heroes: sorcerers, soldiers, berserkers, archers and others. The choice of the class determines the initial skills. A total of 28 skills can be mastered - from mastering melee weapons to providing first aid. There are also magical artifacts that give abilities - attacking, blessing and healing spells.

As you progress, the character's level rises. Experience points are earned in battles. There is a turn-based combat system - nothing can be done during the opponent's turn. In battle, the heroes use weapons for different distances and magic techniques. Damage taken reduces armor.

Avernum 2: Crystal Souls have a large world open to exploration. More than 100 cities and dungeons are mapped. Many different races live here, differing in appearance and culture. The gameplay includes 3 main quests - different ways of fighting aliens. You can go only one or all. The ending changes depending on the choice made. In addition to story missions, there are side missions that do not affect the plot - from the category of "find-bring".
