Avernum: Escape From the Pit is a remake of the 1992 work of the same name, which set new aspects for the development of the role-playing game genre and earned the title of a cult project. There are four types of difficulty to choose from: low, medium, high and painful. In this fantasy world, the player needs to create his own squad of wandering adventurers from 4 units, choosing them from the presented classes: priest, rebel, sorcerer, soldier, berserker, shaman, healer, archer and others. They differ in skills, combat introduction styles, preferred distance, agility and health reserve.The backstory tells us that the main character was sent to Avernum, a system of dungeons hidden deep in the bowels of the earth. This is a place where the most notorious criminals live, danger can lurk around every corner, sunlight does not penetrate here, and the air smells of stench, bitterness and hopelessness. The protagonist is not a thief or a murderer, he simply spoke out against the tyrant emperor, scolding the injustice of his decisions, for which he was punished. The guy will not be alone for long, almost immediately three more group members appear, and now they need to destroy ordinary opponents and bosses, improve their abilities and complete the main and additional (more than 100) quests. Initially, the Avernum character is weak and does not have a weapon, but gradually, exploring the world and finding hidden areas, swords, bows, daggers, equipment: boots, vests, rings, hats, gloves are revealed. They add both passive improvements (increasing health, endurance, power, resistance to the elements) and active ones (allow you to use spells). The unit itself is also pumped up, receiving experience points that can be distributed along the skill tree, which consists of two categories: Combat, Traits and Magic/Other.
