Black Mesa is a full-fledged fan remake of the science fiction shooter Half-Life, created on the Source engine. The creators have redesigned the location of some enemies.The user, as in the original, will transform into a scientist named Gordon Freeman. The protagonist works in the Black Mesa research complex. A catastrophe occurred here, as a result of which aliens invaded. The action takes place in an underground complex, on its surface, and later - transferred to the world of Zen - alien territories. The passage is linear, and in order to move to another level, the gamer must complete the previous one. In the process, the player explores the levels, engaging in battles with opponents. The levels partially implement elements of platforming and puzzles. The shooter itself consists of separate story chapters. The user can choose the difficulty level - one of three available, where only the strength of the damage received by the hero changes.The process starts with a ride on a train along Black Mesa, lasting a couple of minutes, so that the user can observe the changes in the setting and locations. The developers did not change the game fundamentally, but only corrected the geometry of the levels, rearranged opponents in more suitable positions, made some parts more diverse, correcting the graphics. Only the world of Zen underwent complete changes. Here they added new mechanics, expanded the lore, and created the atmosphere of an alien world. The locations have received greater detail, for example, office supplies have been added to the offices. Gameplay has become more hardcore, aggressive, and dynamic. The appearance and physics of weapons are more realistic.
