Brigade E5: New Jagged Union offers several candidates for the main character to choose from. The latter are soldiers who were captured after completing another task. They are given several options - to die or to become a bloodthirsty mercenary doing the dirty work for their masters. The player chooses the side. By beeping the main character, the plot starts. During the movement, the transporter stumbles upon a mine, explodes. And now the protagonist must reach the destination on his own. Along the way, you can visit cities, settlements, industrial facilities. A reward is given for completing contacts. The player hires thugs to join the squad, taking into account the characteristics of the NPC - strength, agility, intelligence. In Brigade E5: New Alliance the mechanics are worked out - a light bulletproof vest will stop a bullet fired from a pistol. But it is unable to protect against a shot from a sniper rifle - when hit by such a caliber, it will tear the Kevlar plates, which will aggravate the problem and cause more damage. The combat is organized by a tactical pause, focusing attention on certain events - an enemy has appeared, a decision must be made. There are several shooting modes. The main character can strafe, jump out, and shoot at the same time. There is an adrenaline effect - it turns on when a stalemate occurs - the enemy's forces are superior. The heartbeat quickens, hands shake. This state increases the speed of reaction, but reduces the accuracy of shooting.
