Call of Duty: World at War Final Front uses familiar mechanics from previous parts of the series. Players complete missions alongside a team of AI-controlled soldiers, covering a variety of scenarios from infantry and sniper missions to night battles and tank assaults. The campaign allows dual pistols and grenades to be carried at once, with allied soldiers assisting in combat and completing objectives. However, criticism has been raised over the AI's shortcomings, with friendly soldiers sometimes interfering with cover and inadvertently exposing themselves to enemy fire. Final Fronts' campaign is significantly different from other versions, as it lacks multiplayer features. Instead, it offers a three-part campaign with 13 missions aimed at ending World War II. Gamers take on roles such as a US Marine in the Pacific campaign, while playing as British and American soldiers on European battlefields.
