Castle In The Darkness is an 8-bit platformer with pixel graphics and appropriate musical accompaniment. The developer of this project was inspired by the true classics of video games of the last century - Castelvania and Metroid, which is noticeable in many things and available mechanics. The action of the single-player campaign takes place in the fantasy kingdom of Alexandria, which was quietly developing under the rule of a wise king. Everything changed after the lands subject to the crown were attacked by an army of darkness, controlled by an incredibly powerful sorcerer, who had been building up his own power for decades. He acts as the main antagonist, who will need to be defeated in the final passage in order to save the princess, who was captured. The protagonist is a miraculously surviving member of the royal guard, who participated in the defense of the fortress and received a serious wound there, leaving him unconscious. After waking up and realizing that the princess has been kidnapped, the main character decides to go on a difficult journey to save his homeland and the royal person. In order to do this, the virtual protégé will have to defeat a huge number of enemies. There are more than 100 options in total, differing in appearance, weapons, and so on. The gamer has access to a wide arsenal of more than 110 items, as well as the ability to change armor and use magic spells using special scrolls collected on the way to the sorcerer. The single-player campaign contains 50 bosses of varying difficulty, which must be defeated to receive special rewards and increase the chance of saving the kingdom.
