China: Forbidden City - Chinese-inspired adventure quest. The game is fully saturated with Eastern culture and mythology of an exotic country. Immerse yourself in the 18th century in the Forbidden City, a massive palace that is home to the Emperor of China. The story begins with the murder of the chief eunuch of the court. Players take on the role of a great overseer. As you can easily guess, there is a killer to be found.
The gameplay of China: Forbidden City consists of walking around the palace complex and interacting with its inhabitants. Question witnesses, search for clues, solve numerous puzzles, etc. Depending on your progress on the case, the Emperor grants special passes that help you gain access to secret rooms and previously closed areas. Gameplay is represented by a first-person adventure in which only a few actions are available: moving interaction and recalling inventory. You will need only a few hours of real time to complete the story.
There are not many quest items - about a dozen. Some of them are clues or letters. A map marking the previously visited places is available. Without it, it's very easy to get lost in the intricacies of the corridors. The protagonist keeps a diary where he records observations, thoughts, and assumptions. The game is a real encyclopedia of Chinese history. There are many drawings, photographs, various museum exhibits, and more. Looking at the local locations, you can fully immerse yourself in the ancient era and feel the atmosphere of that time.
