Close Combat: Modern Tactics is a typical representative of military strategies, where the emphasis is on realism, detailed planning and quick decision-making. According to the creators, the basis for the development was a special combat simulator, which US Marines use to train. The game includes such familiar genre elements as a top view (uncompromisingly vertical), a tactical pause function and a variety of well-thought-out maps. There is no single plot in the game as such, but 25 scenarios and an editor for creating your own battlefields are available. Battles can take place in different locations (American expanses, the Middle East, the territories of the former USSR), and natural conditions also vary (plains and hills, fields, wastelands, wooded or urban areas). Another feature that can affect the course and tactics of military operations is the presence of artificial fortifications, including trenches and ditches, fortified bunkers and protected civilian buildings. Unlike most tactical strategies, Close Combat: Modern Tactics allows you to hire and throw all units into battle from the very beginning. And there are really a lot of them in the game: standard infantry troops, motorized infantry, machine gunners, artillery, aviation, transport for the rapid movement of soldiers and various armored vehicles (infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, American and Soviet tanks). To win, you will need to use all weapons in a comprehensive manner, otherwise individual air units or lagging infantry units will become easy prey for the enemy.
