Close Combat: Wacht am Rhein is one of the few military projects that focuses not only on historical accuracy, but also on developing the psychological profiles of the fighters. The events unfold in 1944, when the key battles of World War II took place. Users are offered to choose the side of the American army or the German troops that will take part in these very battles. So, you can try to finally crush Hitler or, on the contrary, equalize the chances of winning the war by defeating the allies. Features of the Close Combat: Wacht am Rhein project:
- One large campaign - during the entire passage, the gamer does not deviate from the storyline, but only moves to a new turn.
- Operations and battles - the game provides more than 70 scenarios that will take place on 64 different maps. Any situation will require adaptation, so you need to prepare for unexpected turns.
- Tactical flexibility - the user will not always have an advantage over the opponent to simply go into a frontal attack. You must always have a backup plan and try to anticipate the opponent's movements.
In each battle, the map shows the zones where the troops are based. So, if the American side is initially selected, it will be highlighted in green, and the German groups of fighters, in turn, are marked in red. There is also neutral territory, which can also be occupied if the offensive is successful. All units are divided into several categories - riflemen, scouts, grenade launchers and snipers, as well as military equipment. When selecting each of them, you can see a detailed description with the specified characteristics in order to understand what a particular warrior is capable of in battle. The battles take place in a step-by-step mode, where each side is allocated a certain number of moves. It is important to take into account that during the operation force majeure events such as vehicle breakdown are possible. In such a situation, it is necessary to call a team of engineers so as not to lose an important unit before a potential clash.
