Crusader Kings: Deus Vult is an addition to the original global strategy, where the player will become the ruler of the entire world, starting with a small village or one castle. The gameplay features free play and scenarios, where you have to complete tasks and go towards a clear goal. In normal mode, the gamer can achieve whatever he wants through wars, diplomacy or other actions. Basically, you have to watch the global dynamic map of the world, where something is constantly happening. States fight among themselves, rulers become allies or enemies, increase their power and do much more. The user has statistics that show the population, army composition, controlled territories and friends. Innovations added in the Deus Vult add-on:

• The interface has been redesigned, showing the retinue, closest allies, relatives, and faction strata.
• Now you can make friends and ally with previously neutral or enemy rulers. They will come to your aid or provide other services when called.
• Enemies have become smarter and more cunning. Rivals are able to attack major cities when there are no armies in them or take advantage of a difficult situation to their advantage.
• A Stability scale has been added, previously used in other projects by the developer.
• Children of rulers have an unspecified future. They will become different, be gifted or stupid.
• Events show the situation in the domains, and also report on the dynasty and the growing up of the child.
