Day of Infamy was originally created as an Insurgency mod, but soon became an independent addon in the shooter genre in the World War II setting. The action of multiplayer tactical simulator takes place in Europe. The game maps are recreated based on military conflicts that unfolded in the 41-45s of the last century.

The process is based on World War II military operations:

• The Battle of Normandy and the beach landings, a 1944 operation conducted by the Union to liberate the country from the Nazis.
• Invasion of Crete - 1941 Greece fights off German air power.
• British-French Dunkirk Evacuation - 1940 evacuation of Soviet soldiers from the beaches and port of Dunkirk in northern France.
• Invasion of Germany by the Western Allies - The invasion of the Rhine coast and the western part of the country during the last months of fighting in the 45s.
• The Italian Campaign and Sicily - the USSR together conducts a series of operations in and around Italy itself.
• The Battle of the Ardennes was the last major German offensive campaign fought on the front from the West in 1944-1945.

Shooter offers 9 character classes to choose from, they are officer, gunner, attack, flamethrower, machine gunner, engineer, radio operator, sniper and support. Commands have a different number of groupings available depending on the chosen mode for the supply points. Points are given for completing tasks and killing enemies. The team uses them to purchase weapons and equipment for fighters, class selection and weight system, affecting the endurance and speed of the user. Characters die in a single shot.

The shooter is passed in modes:

• Frontline - at 5 control points, players are given the same number of waves of reinforcements. Groups get a destructible HQ Radio or a control point. The winner must destroy all of these targets.
• Invasion - based on attack and defense. The attacking group gets 25% reinforcements and performs a series of tasks in which you must destroy the enemy's radio scale.
• Offensive - defenders get infinite reinforcements, and here regrouping takes place when dead comrades are revived.
• Liberation - the two teams operate under similar conditions, and bonuses are given for taking targets behind enemy lines.
• Intel, an analog to Capture the Flag, where you must seize a folder of information from the defenders.
• Skirmish - To destroy the enemy group you must capture all the enemy's important points.
• Sabotage - The attacking group searches for, infiltrates, and destroys enemy defenses.
