Def Jam: Fight for NY is a 3D fighting game that expands on the process of its predecessor, focused on wrestling. You can choose from a variety of fighting styles, including street fighting, kickboxing, martial arts, wrestling and submission. Interaction with the environment plays an important role, allowing fighters to use the environment and the crowd to inflict damage. From hitting opponents against obstacles to using doors or gates as weapons, the environment becomes a dynamic part of the combat experience. The crowd also gets involved, either helping fighters get back into the fight or offering weapons and distractions. Success in combat isn’t just about landing punches; it’s also about building momentum. Moves, counters, and taunts all contribute to filling the Momentum meter, and a fighter’s Charisma stat affects how quickly it increases. You can customize your fighter’s Charisma with clothing, tattoos, and jewelry, increasing their ability to quickly fill the meter. Once the Momentum meter is full, fighters will be able to use the Blazing Taunt, entering a powerful state where they can perform devastating moves. Each character has a unique Blazin’ Move, adding depth and customization to the combat experience. Created characters can learn all Blazin moves, but can only have four equipped at a time. Master several combat styles to adapt to different opponents and use the environment to gain an advantage in combat.
