Drakengard is a fast-paced RPG that offers a variety of options with three different modes: land, strafing, and air. Land missions allow you to control the main character, Kaim, who wields a standard sword strike, magic attacks, and a dash to counter enemies. The arsenal includes up to eight weapons, each capable of increasing experience levels and increasing damage. Entering combat triggers a combo, and pressing a button in the middle of a combo at the right time triggers a special attack that temporarily disables nearby enemies. You can switch between Kaim and allies assigned to him with similar attacks but increased damage - a strategic advantage gained at additional levels. Air missions open up a new aspect of the process, allowing you to command Caim's partner dragon, Angelus. As players travel through the skies, they encounter multiple aerial targets in intense combat. The Angelus, which is upgraded through combat experience, boasts two types of fire attacks: a high-damage free-aim shot and homing bolts that can hit multiple targets. Boss battles take place exclusively in these aerial levels, which presents a unique challenge.
