In Dread Templar, you play as a templar who has decided to go to the desert lands to become a demon's worst nightmare. And that's really the only incentive for the protagonist in this retro-style first-person shooter. There's practically no tutorial, all you get is a quick guide to help you understand the basics. The gameplay is based on shooting enemies, running fast and dashing. All levels of Dread Templar are full of enemies to kill. And secrets to find and solve, collecting keys and rampaging through the halls of Gothic temples. There's a huge selection of weapons, which makes fighting monsters more fun. Here, speed and shooting are perfectly combined, it's easy for the player to feel like a great fighter. Most of the combat arsenal is pretty traditional for such games, such as pistols, submachine guns or shotguns. But you can also find some surprises, such as a double katana, which can become an excellent spear. Or a weapon that shocks and stuns enemies, making opponents significantly weaker.Shards can be found around the map, opening up slots where powerful runes can be installed. These runes can turn the tide of the game and change the behavior of equipment or even your character. There are no manual saves in the game, so you'll have to rely on save points and sometimes get on your nerves. The game's dejected and inhospitable tone will try to scare the crap out of you, as hateful demons wait to appear out of nowhere with bloodlust in their eyes.
