Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future retains a process reminiscent of its predecessors, although now in three-dimensional space. Ecco's sonar remains a vital tool for interacting with other cetaceans and specific elements of the environment. The control mechanism adapts to the 3D environment, with the control stick determining Ecco's horizontal and vertical orientation. Movement requires pressing a button to initiate speed and further pressing to maintain it. Underwater, Ecco retains the ability to perform acrobatic somersaults, adding a touch of aesthetic flair. The standard attack aimed at attacking opponents has received a homing function, improving combat dynamics. Vitalites, power-ups scattered throughout the game, complement Ecco's health meter, featuring a slightly updated visual design compared to earlier Mega Drive versions. The project introduces several new moves to Ecco's repertoire. A quick 180-degree turn will come in handy in combat, while a quick stop mechanism allows you to swim backwards. Tail, a new addition, allows the hero to raise the upper body above the water, opening the unique angle of objects located above the surface. This maneuver is especially convenient for observing small graphic details of the gaming environment. This part demonstrates a graphics that clearly depicts a protagonist in the form of a realistic dolphin. Despite this confession, there was a critic of a strong fog, worsening visibility under water. The strategic use of fog softens this problem, hiding distances and reducing the number of landfills, providing a more smooth process.
