Empires in Ruins is a sticking sample of old -school tower protection, equipped with a fantasy style plot and charismatic character, Sergeant Hans Haimer. He is quite an anarchist, alcoholic and rebel, so you won't be bored in his company. You'll have to look hard to find colorful characters like him in this genre. The game is richly flavored with black soldier humor - this is one of its most charming features.A little more about the specifics:
- the main game objective is to expand territories, strengthen defensive positions and further expand borders;
- relying mainly on his own strength, the player must supply the base with a constant flow of resources in order to start a harsh military campaign himself;
- you will have to try your hand at diplomacy (which is very difficult for a rude sergeant);
- when appointing governors to newly recaptured regions, it is better to carefully select a candidate and prepare to hang traitors;
- more than a hundred technological studies are available in the game.
You can increase the efficiency of towers by combining the special abilities of each. For example, the enemy will receive a maximum of damage, if you first pour it with oil and immediately set fire. Seventeen unique towers protect the borders of the domain, but you also need to be wary of internal enemies of the state, capable of sabotage and weaving intrigues behind the back of a straightforward, honest boor. To improve defense technologies, you will have to supply the engineer Gottfried Megler, hated by the protagonist, with wonder weapons. To competently build a global strategy, you need to control the distribution of settlement resources, campaigns and suppression of riots. Heimer will caustically comment on any operation, amusing with a select bouquet of foreign curses.
