EMPORIUM

EMPORIUM is, first of all, a reflection presented in the form of an interactive experience. A short project, it contains a profound statement about a person’s self-perception during a tragic period for him. Escapism, confusion, attempts to find something beautiful, poetic and rational in moments of extreme despondency and hopelessness - this is not a complete list of the topics covered in this philosophical parable.The player takes control of a young guy who woke up in a pool of blood in front of a supermarket. Going inside, after a while he meets an old man with whom he feels an inexplicable connection. All subsequent events unfold in an abstract, gloomy world, throwing the main character into the echoes of his own memories. It is worth noting separately the laconic presentation of the narrative through dialogues between the guy and the elderly man, as well as the reasoning of the latter. Ahead lies a difficult path of understanding and acceptance, leading to one of two endings.In terms of gameplay, Emporium is closest to a walking simulator. The gamer will have to explore surreal locations, simultaneously communicating with the old man by choosing one of the answer options, gradually understanding the chain of events that led the main character to where he is now. The isometric picture, made in minimalism and the oppressive musical component, add up to a memorable and original style.
