Fatal Frame 2 / Project Zero 2: Crimson Butterfly is a survival horror game. Throughout the game, players guide Mio and Mayu to a mysterious village. A glowing thread warns of the presence of ghosts or important clues nearby. Some spirits offer assistance rather than hostility, aiding in the quest for understanding. Mio Amakura is the main protagonist, accompanied by her sister Mayu. Together, they delve into the depths of a ghost town, battling otherworldly enemies and unraveling the town's dark secrets. Armed with an enchanted Camera Obscura, images of ghosts can be captured to battle them. There are two distinct modes: Field, where users directly control Mio to explore and investigate, and Viewfinder, where the Camera Obscura is used to capture spectral images. In the field mode, you can freely explore objects and the environment in search of important clues. Viewfinder mode provides a unique perspective, allowing you to capture ghostly apparitions and eerie landscapes through the lens of the pinhole camera. Various camera upgrades, lens types, and film options further enhance the gameplay, offering strategic choices to optimize your ghost-hunting abilities. The walkthrough features dynamic exploration with two distinct modes: Field and Viewfinder, and strategic use of the pinhole camera to combat supernatural threats. The story is crafted using non-linear storytelling with hidden clues and ghostly encounters.
