Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix is a cinematic action adventure that continues the style of its predecessor with cel-shading. Players move around a pseudo-3D environment with a cyclical full-screen video, controlling four main characters: Hannah, Rain, Dick and Glas. The gameplay is primarily played from a third-person perspective, allowing you to switch between characters to get different perspectives on the storyline. Controls are flexible and offer both traditional and modern layouts. A variety of weapons are featured, including firearms and unique melee options. Unlike its predecessor, the Retro Helix installment focuses on puzzle solving over combat. Enemies are rare and strategically placed, creating tension rather than constant action. While the gameplay may seem less challenging, you will need to overcome instant-death scenarios and manage a fear meter that affects your character's health. Switch strategically between characters to progress through the storyline and solve challenging puzzles to open up new areas and advance the narrative. Use a diverse arsenal of weapons and equipment to overcome difficulties. Move around a dynamic environment, dodging or fighting enemies, and manage the fear indicator, balancing health with the intensity of the situation. Uncover hidden secrets and collectibles scattered throughout the game world.
