Forbidden SIREN 2 presents a process structure reminiscent of its predecessor. Players navigate through a variety of scenarios displayed in a chronological sequence known as the Link Navigator. Completing each scenario requires completing the mission's main objectives, usually involving finding items, reaching exit points, or fighting various enemies such as shibito and yamibito.Central to the mechanics is the unique concept of hacking landmarks, allowing the player to perceive the environment from the perspective of nearby characters and creatures. This feature is similar to tuning radio frequencies and uses the controller's left analog stick as a dial, allowing visual and auditory experience from multiple perspectives. Hacking reveals important information such as enemy locations, patrol routes, and landmarks. However, engaging in hacking leaves the user immobile and vulnerable to potential attacks. Forbidden SIREN 2 has an improved aiming system. Notably, it features automatic target acquisition, simplifying the process of observing the nearest enemy without manually tuning to their frequency. Moreover, character-specific enhancements add depth to the mechanics. Abilities such as Shu's mobile landmark capture, Ikuko's ability to manipulate captured enemies, and Akiko's ability to reveal past mental impressions.
