Fracture, which takes place in a ruined future of the United States, introduces players to a world overshadowed by an environmental disaster. This third-person shooter introduces a unique mechanic that allows players to use the force of terrain deformation with weapons. The year is 2161, and the country is torn between two ideological powers: the cybernetic soldiers of the Atlantic Alliance and the genetically modified creatures of the Republic of Pacifica. This division is emblematic of a deeper ideological and geopolitical rift caused by the flooding caused by climate change. The player takes control of Mason Briggs, a soldier for the Atlantic Alliance tasked with stopping General Sheridan, the leader of the Pacifica, from unleashing a monstrous dreadnought. Along this treacherous path, Briggs encounters a variety of enemies and allies, as well as an arsenal of weapons designed to adapt. The centerpiece of the player's arsenal is the Entreacher, a device capable of manipulating the environment to erect barriers, create paths, and even set intricate traps. Completing this arsenal are such ingenious tools as Spike Grenades, Vortex Grenades, and Rocks, which play an important role in shaping the battlefield. Fracture's narrative unfolds over a dozen missions, each of which takes place in a variety of locations - from the ruins of San Francisco to the arid expanses of Nevada and the heart of Washington. In addition to the exciting single-player campaign, Fracture features a vibrant multiplayer arena that can accommodate up to a dozen players in four dynamic modes: regular and team deathmatch, capture the flag, and king of the hill. Terrain deformation adds strategic depth to battlefields that changes the course of each encounter.
