People have finally experienced rest, started a new life, began to enjoy the benefits of the planet Sera and now draw energy from natural sources such as wind or sun. At the same time, they live in fenced cities and cannot leave them by law. The main character is James Dominic Fenix, the son of the legendary Marcus. His friends will be with him - Delmont Walker and Kate Diaz. These three, and not only them, fight a new enemy, creatures from the Swarm.The gameplay is based on the mechanics of the previous parts, that is, shooting, in which the ability to hide behind elements of the environment is important (and not only behind them, for example, you can use the enemy as a human shield). It is enough to move from place to place and destroy the monsters that you will encounter. The player is faced with a choice of path several times. In such situations, the squad is always divided into two parts, and one of the formations covers the other.The game is based on constant shooting (new and known guns are available), but the player can fight in close combat. With this type of clashes in mind, the creators developed the Close Cover Combat system, which was developed in this part. An innovation is the presence of a knife that can be used both for combat and for executions (the animation depends on the position of the character in question in relation to the enemy). Of course, the game couldn't miss the multiplayer. Various modes are available:

• Team Deathmatch - a typical battle involving the destruction of the other team.
• Dodger - the enemy team is eliminated, and each kill brings a dead comrade back into the game.
• Arms Race - clashes without choosing a weapon (a random machine gun is given instantly and changes after every three kills).
• Execution - teams compete, but players have one life.
• Guardian - after killing the squad leader, the formation cannot be revived, so it must be destroyed.
