The main character of Gloom is a nameless dreamer who wants to unravel the mystery of the so-called Common Dream. He managed to find out that the necessary information is stored on the pages of the Necronomicon, which in turn is hidden deep in the depths of the Abyss. But this character is far from the only one who knows about the existence of these elements and wants to take possession of them. Therefore, on his way there will be crowds of crazy dreamers and demonic creatures who managed to advance a little further. Some of them have been here for a long time, and they certainly will not want to give in.The visual style is a distinctive feature of Gloom. So, everything is designed in a black and white style, which only enhances the perception of what is happening. As for the gameplay, all the mechanics correspond to a standard platformer. The hero moves through locations, dealing with enemies as they appear on the way. The combat system is quite specific, mainly due to the behavior of enemies. For example, ghosts can disappear for a moment, only to appear behind the hero. Dogs are highly aggressive, and spiders are quite agile, although quite clumsy due to their size. Therefore, you will have to select a weapon based on who your opponent is in a particular situation. Ghosts are best eliminated with a blade, and spiders should be killed with a flamethrower so that they cannot easily get close. This is important, because the permanent death system will instantly send the user back to the very beginning.
