Half-Life 2D: The Orange Box is an atypical, experimental project with an idea that was invented and implemented by a group of enthusiasts from the independent community of programmers. The team is made up of big fans of the original assembly of games on the Source engine. Due to the transfer of familiar franchises to two-dimensional worlds, they received lower system requirements than three-dimensional parts, this favorably affected the availability and the ability to run on weak hardware. The collection includes 7 games: Half-Life, Team Fortress, Counter Strike, Postal, Source Forts, Left 4 Dead and Garrys mod. All of them, without exception, have turned into arcade platformers in a two-dimensional space in which movement is only possible in two directions. The levels and location layout have been redesigned to accommodate the camera placement, which creates a side view of what is happening, meaning minor redesigns to create vertical gameplay with multiple jumps up and down platforms. CS and TF offer battles against bots in familiar locations, transferred to a pixel style. The main asset of the build is the adventures of the legendary Gordon Freeman in the city of City-17. The developers devoted the most time to this particular project, which is noticeable in the length of the story campaign and the number of transferred territories.
