Heat Guardian is a hardcore 2D shooter with survival elements and a top-down view. After a certain cataclysm, eternal winter has come to the world. Unseen creatures have begun to roam the area. And dangerous anomalies have also appeared. The events take place in Eastern Europe, and the locations are imbued with post-Soviet flavor. The game is linear and consists of 40 levels. You will have to die on them often. The danger in Heat Guardian is not only monsters and armed members of hostile groups. The character can catch a tripwire or die from the cold. To avoid freezing, you need to drink vodka and warm yourself by a portable stove (or warm yourself up indoors). But alcohol damages your health, and you will first need to find logs for the stove. Except for this, there is no resource extraction here. Crafting, pumping and bosses are also absent. HP can be restored using first aid kits. In an indie project made by one person, there are 50 types of weapons. There are both cold weapons (knives, swords, shovels) and firearms (pistols, shotguns, machine guns, sniper rifles). There is even a homemade gun and a crossbow, as well as mines and grenades. All guns require ammo. Enemies are capable of killing the nameless hero with a couple of shots. You can sneak up on them using stealth and eliminate them quietly. In addition to shooting enemies, the character is engaged in completing tasks for friendly NPCs and explores maps in search of useful loot. Saving occurs only between stages. Levels have to be run through in one sitting (or start over in case of death).
