Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a crossover of two popular game franchises that mixes two universes. The gamer finds himself in the fictional world of Hyrule - the habitat of Link, Zelda and other heroes from The Legend of Zelda. The game belongs to the hack-n-slash genre, in which the player is asked to defeat hundreds of enemies to complete the set goals. The storyline tells about the events 100 years before what is happening in Breath of the Wild. After the attack of a creature called Calamity Ganon, the Guardian opens a portal in time in order to arrive in the past and warn the inhabitants of the world about the approaching danger. This decision allowed the developers to show an alternative course of history of the known universe, where you can make various edits.The player's task at each level will be to capture the enemy camp in various ways. Most often, this is done through brute force and clearing the entire area to open the way to the base. The user has an artifact called the Shiika Stone. It can be useful in solving some puzzles. Also, among the available devices there is always a glider for descending from high mountains and the like. In different parts of the storyline, several characters fall under the player's control: Link, Zelda, Impa, Mipha, Daruk, Revali, Urbosa, and so on. Each of them has a different set of attacks and available weapons.
