The action of the adventure Kya: Dark Lineage unfolds when Kya and her half-brother Frank stumble upon a hidden room. During a conversation about Kya's father, an involuntary action launches a portal, involving Kya and Frank in an unexpected journey. A sharp shift places them in the middle of the jungle, pursued by ferocious creatures known as Wulfen, as a result of which Kiya and the lone Nativ try to navigate the unknown.As users move through the various stages, they will guide Kia through a mix of platforming and adventure. These purchases enhance Kia's abilities, allowing her to scale surfaces, perform agile maneuvers, and ride fast creatures known as Jamguts. The game is based around the use of wind dynamics, requiring Kia to use air currents to propel herself while simultaneously creating obstacles in her path. Free-fall segments also feature prominently, requiring Kia to control the speed and direction of her descent, often culminating in her landing on large flowers called Amorthos, which act as shock-absorbing airbags. Damage occurs when contacting objects in the middle of a fall, landing on the ground leads to death and restarts the sequence of actions.
