Later Daters is unusual in that the main character is an 80 year old man who enters a nursing home left to try and bond with the other residents. The player will be plunged into a rather sweet story about old age and socializing in the last days of human life.When you first enter Later Daters, you can choose the protagonist's exterior and personality from an initially given set of modifications. They are also suggested to favor a companion pet from a variety of animals. This best friend will now become an integral part of the protagonist's life. The player will then discover that the character and pet have reached a point in their lives where additional help is needed. Therefore, the characters will go to Ye OLDE nursing home for a more comfortable living. Whether this will actually make the protagonist's life easier remains to be seen.It is in the boarding house that the old man and his friend meet a lot of residents and workers. Now there is an opportunity to fool around, joke, play, but most importantly - to love. The narrative leitmotif is the main focus of the game because it turns unique destinations and characters inside out. These connections, which are important to maintain, feel real and heartwarming thanks to a great script. The play also brilliantly tackles the more complex themes of aging, death, dementia and love as you get older, shying away from stereotypical roles. It's clever and certainly makes you think about how the elderly should be treated.
