In Life is Hard, the gamer gets the opportunity to create the history of the settlement they control. Here, a god simulator is combined with a city-building one, where the user protects the village from dangers, expands and improves it, pumping it up through the tree of internal politics, and also wages wars and trades with allied villages. At first, 4 characters live in the village, but soon there will be a large city with stone walls, shops, markets and huge buildings. The player takes care of the locals, supplying them with food, water, medicine for ailments, and also creates weapons and armor.Life is hard - characters to choose from, represented by gods:
- Wars - inflicts maximum damage to weaker opponents in battle.
- Sun - has the ability to passively gain faith points.
- Darkness - gets extra points for each kill.
- Nature - promotes rapid growth of crops.
- Fertility - reduces the price of bread produced at the mill.
- Atheism - by choosing this direction, the user gets an acceleration of work, as well as the ability to use spells.
Necromancer Tenebris decides to attack the settlement, so the user is preparing to repel the attack in any form. In the process, the player learns what happened to the College of Wizards who previously lived in these parts. The gamer also enters into a large-scale war with the Northern Kingdom or joins the invader. The user constructs buildings that are subject to further pumping. The settlers will have to be sent to hunt so that they get food. Wanderers often visit the town - some of them are friendly, others are not, for example, a dual character will ask you to choose one of his forms, who will stay here and extract resources. Enemies must be fought in any way possible. If a resident dies, the user resurrects them for faith points.
