Lords of the Realm 3 sends the gamer to the Middle Ages - the time of the existence of city-states that constantly fought for land, resources, glory. The strategy offers to create an army, with which he participates in difficult battles in order to get the title of ruler, gradually making his way to the throne. Controlling knights, the user builds castles, defends his territories, fights using catapults, conducts a siege of fortresses and fortifications. Battles take place in real time with the participation of cavalry, the use of siege weapons, and are based on real historical data.Among the vassals are:
- Knights - build an outpost on their own land, and create troops.
- Farmers - obtain different types of food.
- Burgers - deal with financial issues in the territory entrusted to them.
- Clergymen - maintain the Christian rating, which determines the morale and efficiency of the armies.
Vassal rulers have separate professional skills, as well as useful and unnecessary bonuses, which depend on their ability to manage individual types of troops. Vassals build settlements, form combat units, collect tribute, replenish food supplies without the user's participation. Lords of the Lands 3 conditionally consists of a strategic mode in which resources are collected, castles are built, lands are managed, an army is created and provided with weapons, as well as a tactical one - battles in real time with an emphasis not on the number of units, but on their competent and rapid disposal on the battlefield. Provinces controlled by various lords are marked on the game maps. The game consists of Campaigns, the main goal of which is to capture provinces with allotments in order to establish their own control there. The allotments themselves are not captured - rivals are only exterminated on them. After destroying the enemy army, the user appoints his vassal - only in this case the gamer receives the province, its allotments and nearby lands. The smallest combat units are squads, which can be controlled by giving orders. Each has its own knight-commander, whose work affects the battles and the morale of the unit, because if the soldiers fall, they will flee from the battlefield. Correct formation of units is also important, each of which must take the right positions to win. There are spearmen, archers, crossbowmen, swordsmen, cavalry, knights, weapons for siege and assault, for example, towers.
