Mable The Wood is a platformer with elements of metroidvania. The indie project has 2D pixel graphics. The product is small, it takes 4-8 hours to complete. However, the local story has several endings, secrets are hidden on the levels. This may inspire some gamers to repeat runs. According to the plot, a group of cultists calls a girl. They call her the Herald of Dawn and order her to destroy the Great Beasts supposedly to save the world. Mabel can follow their instructions or doubt their words in order to choose her own path. There is an option to complete the game without killing at all.In general, Mable The Wood is linear. There is the acquisition of new abilities, but the destruction of the leaders occurs in a strictly defined order. There is little nonlinearity here. There is no usual leveling. The heroine gets skills when she takes the life of bosses. For example, after killing a giant spider, she will learn to release a web and move quickly. In human form, Mabel walks very slowly, as she drags a heavy blade along the ground. She is able to turn into a fairy for a couple of seconds and fly, leaving the weapon on the floor. Other forms will be given to her after boss fights. The fights themselves end spectacularly, as gamers are shown the process of finishing off an opponent. The woman will also have to fight ordinary opponents, such as bats, bulls and other animals. However, fights are allowed to be avoided. She will be able to open additional plot branches. At the levels, the female protagonist collects crystals and looks for keys, trying not to fall into traps. A map helps to navigate the terrain. Each location plays its own melody. There are no music from some segments at all. The game features a lot of dialogue.
