Mad Dog McCree is a pioneer in the field of action games that made a splash with its cinematic approach, reminiscent of Wild West films of the time. The player must destroy the enemy before he has time to strike back, and at the same time not harm the innocent inhabitants of the city. The prospector tells a grim tale of the mayor and his daughter being held captive by the infamous Mad Dog McCree, led by the fearsome Rusty Dillon. The sheriff's attempts to stop them have landed him behind bars. When two of McCree's henchmen attempt to silence the prospector, the stranger acts quickly, neutralizing the threat. The prospector discovers that the keys to the jail are in the possession of One-Eyed Jack, who is locked up in the local saloon. The further events of Mad Dog McCree unfold depending on the player's choice, creating a dynamic narrative determined by his actions.
