Magna Carta: Tears of Blood is a dynamic process inspired by elements of Shadow Hearts and the Star Ocean series. Up to three characters move around the battlefield in real time. You have to take control of one hero at a time, starting attacks only after filling the ward's leadership bar, while remaining motionless. Once charged, initiating an attack involves performing a sequence of three timed button presses known as the trinity ring. A failed attempt depletes the meter, requiring you to patiently wait for it to refill. The combat system has three different modes: standard, combo and counter. Standard mode is excellent in both offense and defense, allowing characters to learn more powerful attacks by honing the timing of button presses. Combo attacks sacrifice defense for powerful offensive maneuvers, combining all attacks in one move. Counterattacks allow you to not only block, but also strike back, anticipating the enemy's actions without depleting the leadership meter. Throughout the game, fighters can use different fighting styles, and each of them uses different types of chi (energy) to increase their effectiveness. In different areas, users encounter eight different types of chi, and each has a different exhaustible amount. The inclusion of various fighting styles and chi types adds depth to the strategic aspects of Magna Carta: Tears of Blood. You will need to carefully choose your approach depending on the situation, combining offensive and defensive tactics for optimal results.
