Metro Exodus is an exceptional continuation of the franchise with many levels. Combining survival horror and hardcore shooting, it is an exciting game drama. Equally impressive are its cutting-edge visuals, thanks to advanced lighting and shading, as well as other high-tech special effects.Metro Exodus is a great example of how developers can take advantage of new technology. Field of view, shadows and highlights, animation, and every aspect of what might be considered natural effects are improved in ways that aren't immediately obvious. For a game with so many dark and gloomy environments, clarity is an added benefit. Better lighting means greater clarity in the claustrophobic metro environments and even more impressive, almost photographic rendering of the outdoor areas. This is a game about hardened survivors desperately searching for a way to live with meaning rather than just survive. Anna, for example, is desperately searching for a life for herself and her beloved Artyom. Her father, Miller, is trying to find a sense of purpose and belonging; a way to justify every sacrifice he's made, and Stepan just wants a family of his own. The beautifully directed intermissions on the Aurora and the characters that meet to move the game forward are beautiful and complement the gameplay. The rich backstory that begs to be told is reduced to random tape recordings or notes, which can be a minus for those who like to follow the plot closely.
