It may seem strange or even wild, but in Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble the role of the main character goes to a humanoid fungus named Pax. He found himself in a nightmare, where he is driven by a maddened Truffle Princess. Now, he must go through several stages of a terrible dream at once to find himself in a normal environment and get rid of terrible visions. Each stage reveals new gameplay mechanics, as well as character abilities. They all need to be used for their intended purpose in order to solve the tasks and not linger in one place. The threat does not sleep, and any delay can cost lives. Thus, one of the character's features is the ability to change his own form, adapting to the circumstances at the location.Pax's forms and variations in Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble:
- Spider - Climbs walls and ceilings, moving freely.
- Ghost - immune to enemies and the princess.
- Mole - digs under the ground with its massive fangs.
- Super Pax - has increased physical strength and endurance, due to which it spends less time moving.
- Moth - just flies.
And although the gameplay mainly takes place in two-dimensional space, the game itself certainly does not resemble a classic representative of the genre. Due to the fact that all objects that fall into the frame are voluminous and large, everything around is perceived completely differently. In addition, the camera constantly moves behind the unit, adjusting to the pace of its movement. As for the applicable mechanics, everything is quite simple, although it requires preliminary training. Mushroom moves blocks and puts them into platforms, pushes structures, climbs ropes, climbs walls, fights opponents (or simply avoids them), and also uses forces in its hybrid forms. Success in passing depends on the number of spores collected. If you managed to get everything, the system will award all 3 stars.
