Need for Speed: High Stakes is an old classic racing simulator, which, like its predecessor, is focused on single races and competitions with other racers. The main innovations were improved cars and tracks, multiplayer for up to nine people and Career mode were added. The player takes on the role of a driver and goes to compete with other rivals in arcade mode or goes through the story of the company, earning recognition and money, opening new cars and tuning elements. In Need for Speed: High Stakes, the class of cars was redesigned, where instead of three categories, there were four and the choice of racing vehicles was significantly increased. During races, cars behave much more realistically due to changes in physics and receive scratches or more serious damage to the body. In addition to racers and objects of the environment, sometimes the police will be an obstacle. On the route there are up to five police patrols, who can notice the player exceeding the speed limit and go to detain, blocking the way with a blockade and spikes.Arcade playthrough is divided into four types of races: single race, chase, elimination and tournament. Network mode is available or an alternative, when the screen is split into two parts with the possibility of playing for two, as a simple driver and as a keeper of order, causing trouble for violators.
