Normality takes the player to the city of Neutropolis, previously prosperous and serene, and now turned into a dull and dirty state, where all processes are controlled by corrupt police and the authorities, spitting on their people. The main task of the passage is to do everything possible to overthrow the dictator and end the authoritarian era of government, bringing democracy, power to the people and freedom of speech to the press. Only a single campaign is available.The main character is Kent Knutson, a teenager-bunter who does not agree with the usual course of events, but actively opposing the dark power trying to absorb, break and enslave. In his world, all entertainment is prohibited, including songs, dances and even whistling a melody, for which the protagonist was imprisoned in Norma. While serving his sentence, he receives a note from an unknown person, where the guy is invited to join the laurels of the rebel movement. The gameplay of Normality is based on:
- Exploring a huge city - finding its secrets and loopholes that can let the hero into hidden areas. You can enter key rooms (not necessarily through the door) and conduct your own investigation there.
- Solving puzzles and riddles - becoming more difficult with each new step, their solutions can be absurd and strange, consisting of many pieces of a puzzle scattered around the area.
- Communicating with locals - people telling their stories help to better understand the reason for the global apathy of an entire nation.
