A distinctive feature of the game is that all the levels through which the player will travel, hiding from terrifying enemies, are procedurally generated. This makes it impossible to memorize the order of the game or learn how to avoid certain dangerous moments, and also increases replayability.Phantasmal: City of Darkness is close in spirit to the works of Howard Lovecraft. The main character is an unknown young man who fell asleep in his house and woke up in the center of an unfamiliar city. This settlement is completely deserted, and yet someone still lives there - the protagonist hears frightening sounds and sees nightmarish monsters chasing him. In order to survive, he will have to fight for his life. This battle will begin in the very center of the creepy city, and in the process, the protagonist will try to get out of it, bypassing the streets and alleys flooded with enemies.The project, generally related to the survival horror genre, also contains shooter elements. The hero has the opportunity to find a weapon with which he can resist and shoot or at least slow down the monstrous creatures attacking him. However, what is happening can not only harm him physically, but also undermine him spiritually. Gradually, he will go crazy, unable to withstand the weight pressing on him.
