PlanetSide 2 is not a direct continuation of the first part of the series. The action takes place in the same universe where famous factions fight. One of them is the Terran Republic, an authoritarian militaristic state that keeps its citizens on a short leash. There is also the New Conglomerate, an organization of self-proclaimed freedom fighters. Also - the Vanu Sovereignty, a faction of supporters of the idea that technology will lead humanity to a higher path of development. The events of the game can be followed from a first-person perspective. Up to two thousand players participate in battles at the same time. The character embodies one of six classes: Heavy Assault (a fighter specializing in frontline combat), Light Assassin (a surprise attack), Engineer (the ability to repair machines), Infiltrator (a warrior engaged in silent killings), Medic (heals and restores comrades to working condition) and MAX (a specialist with heavy weapons, a mixture of an infantryman and a robot). Over time, he gains experience points, opening access to new guns and items. Battles come down to seizing control over a certain area, although it is worth noting that there is a division into missions (the presence depends on the player's achievements). During the game, technology is used, and teamwork plays an extremely important role. The shooter is available for free, but users can buy various useful items for real money. The locations where bloody skirmishes take place are so huge that it is almost impossible to get from one end to the other on foot.
