Portal Stories: Mel is a modification for the sequel to the cult game. Initially, the second part was supposed to be dedicated to the adventures of Mel. However, the developers soon abandoned this idea and left the original heroine - Chell. Subsequently, fans independently made a project about the adventures of the rejected protagonist.The events take place in 1951. The Olympic champion arrives on a train to the huge research complex Aperture Science at the invitation of Cave Johnson. The girl agrees to participate in testing the sleep capsule. The athlete was promised that she would sleep in the experimental device for a maximum of one hour. However, she wakes up in our time. Soon she realizes that something bad happened in the laboratory. A young woman finds a portal gun (with a 1970s design) and tries to get out. She is helped by a module named Virgil. The artificial intelligence constantly jokes and teases the lady. In terms of the plot, Portal Stories: Mel is an unofficial prequel to the first Portal.Gameplay-wise, it is the same puzzle with a first-person view. In addition to the portal-creating gadget, the game has new mechanisms: jumper boots, mobster turrets, an anti-expropriation laser field. There is also an analogue of GLaDOS here. The local antagonist is called SVORA. There are 22 tests in the amateur project. The puzzles are more difficult than the puzzles from the two main titles. The passage can take about 12 hours.
