Praetorians is a real-time strategy game developed by a small indie development studio. The project was released back in 2003, at the peak of popularity of this genre and tactical games with an isometric camera. The high-quality, for that time, visual component, the scale of battles due to the engine's ability to draw a huge number of units simultaneously and easy-to-learn controls attract gamers to this day to try their hand at a single-player story campaign created based on the facts of those times with the addition of some elements. Cut scenes between missions are made on the game engine, they use the same graphic developments as the gameplay. Praetorians transport the gamer to distant times, when the birth of the once great power called the Roman Empire took place. The gamer is entrusted with the role of an army commander, going to power over the territories of modern Italy and other conquered lands. The opportunity to take such a respected position must be earned. This must be done in the desert locations of Egypt, on the battlefields of Gaul and in Italy itself. The gamer will lead his own Crusade, the purpose of which will be to gain unlimited power over the only forming Roman Empire. The current emperor wants to stay on the throne by all available methods, sending a variety of combat units to the player in an attempt to stop the confident advance to the borders of Rome. To successfully complete the campaign, the user will need: ingenuity, developed tactics, the ability to quickly respond and clear commands to his army.
