Project Sylpheed: Arc of Deception puts players in the shoes of a rookie pilot, commanding a Delta Sabre starfighter in a series of 16 missions. The main objectives are to destroy specific enemy targets and protect allied ships. In addition, it is possible to solve secondary goals, and they can include completing tasks within the established deadlines or avoiding damage. Successfully completing the main objectives within the allotted time period results in the mission being completed, while repeated failures cause the session to offer a skip option to move on to the next stage. The user interface provides important information via gauges displaying shield strength and weapon ammo at the bottom, while the upper right corner displays numbers indicating enemy destruction and the time remaining until the mission is completed. Enemies are marked with red indicators that leave behind distinctive pink trails. Friendly ships, on the other hand, leave behind blue trails, while missiles leave white trails. When piloting the Delta Sabre, gamers precisely engage distant enemies surrounded by bright, colorful trails. Control can be performed from two perspectives: from the cockpit or from a short distance outside the ship. Maneuvering is carried out using the controller's joystick, which allows the star fighter to move freely in any direction. By combining the maneuver button with the direction indicator, you can perform aileron rolls and 180-degree turns, adding tactical depth to your air combat.
