The plot of Richard West and the Golden Mask begins when the adventurer, after whom the game is named, receives a message about the discovery of the location of a legendary artifact - the Golden Mask. In the ruins of an ancient temple in northern Europe, glory awaits the protagonist. Richard knows about the dangers that await him there, but is determined to make a discovery and become the best archaeologist in the world.The gameplay of Richard West and the Golden Mask is built on exploring the spaces of an abandoned temple, and overcoming the obstacles that arise. The player will have to jump and climb walls, collapsed columns and steep ledges, move objects and look for hidden secrets. In the dark labyrinths of some locations, Richard will be saved by a torch that lights the way. The main character will encounter a huge number of traps - pits with spikes, spears shooting out of the walls, pillars of fire, sharp pendulums hanging over a narrow passage, and an incorrect action or decision will lead to the death of the protagonist.
