Ring of Red is a strategy game that mixes turn-based combat with real-time combat scenarios. A wide range of missions are featured, with players strategically placing units on the map, with each square on the map offering unique terrain advantages or disadvantages that affect movement and defense options. United units consist of one AFW (armored combat walker) accompanied by three infantry squads, and the objective of each mission ranges from chasing down enemies to capturing cities or protecting convoys. In the process, players and enemies alternate, each taking turns moving their units around the map in search of completing mission objectives. Branched objectives in some missions provide various bonuses, adding an element of strategic decision-making. The battle begins with moving a certain distance from the enemy squad, determined by the range of the AFW before the battle. Successfully destroying an enemy AFV earns experience points, while losing one removes the entire squad until the next mission. In addition to combat, cities can be captured during missions. Territories offer benefits such as recruiting more troops and healing friendly units, which adds an extra layer of strategic depth. Gamers can dedicate turns to repairing their units, ensuring they are ready for subsequent missions. Each task has specific parameters for the player's defeat, ranging from failing to complete tasks within a set time limit to losing a key unit, in this case Weisegger.
