Saiyuki: Journey West is a tactical RPG inspired by the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. Players go on an epic journey with the main character Sanzo, a devout Buddhist who makes a pilgrimage from China to India. Throughout the campaign, users go through a series of adventures and encounters that reflect the timeless narrative of the original story. In Saiyuki: Journey West, Sanzo can be controlled as either a male or female character, offering a customizable experience. With Sanzo, gamers assemble a diverse group of characters, each with unique abilities and transformations. Notably, each character, with the exception of Sanzo, has the ability to temporarily transform into a monstrous form, increasing their combat prowess. Rather than transforming like other characters, Sanzo boasts access to summon spells, giving the party strategic advantages. These spells vary in their effect, boosting the party's stats in various ways for a limited number of rounds. In addition, Sanzo's summon spells provide the ability to use an additional spell at will, adding depth to the tactical gameplay. Each character in the group is associated with a certain elemental affinity, affecting their witchcraft abilities and susceptibility to opposing elements. Throughout the campaign, you will have to navigate dangerous landscapes, participate in strategic battles and defeat formidable opponents.
