Serious Sam: Next Encounter takes you to a tense first-person shooter. Taking control of Sam Serious Stone, the player moves through a variety of levels, from tight corridors to vast open areas. On forty-two levels scattered across three different worlds, users encounter enemies using both melee and throwing attacks. Enemies are teleported into rooms, requiring you to strategically clear out waves before advancing. In some cases, the process involves collecting and placing objects in specific slots to open up a path forward, adding a puzzle-solving element to the action. The arsenal includes ten ranged weapons and a chainsaw for melee. Sam starts with dual pistols with unlimited ammo, and some weapons have multiple ammo types that can be switched between. Continuous fire is achieved by holding the weapon button, and an additional setting allows for automatic targeting of enemies. Occasionally, gamers gain access to vehicles such as jeeps, submarines, or harvesters, adding chaos to combat scenarios. Users earn points by defeating enemies and discovering hidden treasures, which contributes to their final score on each level. Medals are awarded based on points, with accumulating gold rewards unlocking additional difficult lost levels. Killing twenty enemies in quick succession activates a powerful Super Combo, increasing the protagonist's speed, weapon capabilities, and point bonuses for a short period. When the hero's health is depleted, gameplay pauses, returning the character to the last checkpoint with a point penalty. Featuring an extensive arsenal of ten ranged weapons and a melee chainsaw, and adding vehicles such as jeeps and submarines for added combat dynamics.
