The gameplay of Shank 2 remains the same as in the first part of the series: the character rushes around the screen, crushing enemies left and right in hand-to-hand fights and brutal shootouts. He grabs everything that moves, cuts up bodies, crushes bones, shoots off arms, legs and uses any available means for bloody and spectacular killings of enemies. But the game mechanics have changed considerably. Mini-bosses with a lot of health have appeared, there are traps in the locations where you can lure careless opponents, and the main character has forgotten how to block blows: to save himself from receiving damage, he can only use a roll.There are few game characters in Shank 2 - this is Shank himself and his combat girlfriend Corina. But each of the avatars has several types, so the total number of heroes increases to 16. New heroes are awarded for receiving achievements. They differ from the usual version of the protagonists by improving and weakening some skills: someone shoots better, and someone has stronger hand-to-hand combat techniques.For murders, mass slaughter and execution of hated enemies, the protagonists use the following types of weapons:

• Sharpenings. Basic melee weapons. They are distinguished by low damage and high attack speed.
• Machete. Improved version of melee weapons. Damage is also small, but it affects everyone who is in the radius of damage. Destroys barriers and wooden blockers, can't cope with metal ones.
• Sledgehammer. Attacks slowly, but powerfully. It is capable of smashing metal and wooden shields into pieces.
• Throwing daggers. Another set of basic weapons. Hits weakly, but quickly.
• Pistols. The principle of influencing opponents is similar to the previous weapon, but firearms inflict a little more damage.
• Shotgun. Any punisher's dream. At short distances, it smashes any aggressor to pieces and bloody splashes. At medium distances, it also injures and maims well.
• Explosives. There are 2 types - Molotov cocktails and mines. The first ones hit the area and damage with fire. The second ones are installed on the ground and are automatically activated when opponents are in the radius of damage.
