Shepherds of the Abyss is a game primarily about thoughtful strategic confrontation. All the action takes place on a fairly wide field, where the gamer places buildings to form a labyrinth through which enemies will be forced to move. The main goal, as in any tower defense project, is to protect your base from waves of advancing enemies. A wide arsenal of towers and buffs is available for this.The gameplay of Shepherds of the Abyss is notable for the fact that it is necessary not only to defend, but also to attack an enemy base similar to yours. The gameplay itself is divided into two phases: preparation and battle. At the first stage, the gamer is given time to think about the optimal location of the towers, place and upgrade buildings and choose enhancements. In the battle phase, the main task is to collect souls from defeated units, as well as control active buffs, the effect of which is interconnected. Gold mined in battle is used to build and upgrade defensive structures. The second currency is souls, to strengthen buildings between waves. They allow buildings to get additional functions and powers, which significantly help to repel another attack. For example, some of them allow you to deal periodic damage or slow down enemy units. The game has several modes to choose from: single, cooperative or confrontation, where two players can clash in battle.
